We are pleased to announce that our client, Amgen, is an LTEN Excellence Awards Finalist for a project developed in partnership with Metajourn. The LTEN Excellence Awards is the premier awards program in the United States recognizing creativity and leadership within the life sciences training and development community. Through the LTEN Excellence Awards competition, practitioners and suppliers enter learning initiatives and training content in various categories for recognition of excellence. Finalists are selected by a diverse group of life sciences training experts and thought leaders and, from that group of finalists, one winner is awarded in each category.
Financial Literacy for Account Managers is a ground-breaking, first-of-its-kind simulation designed to enhance the business acumen and financial literacy of Amgen Account Managers across the globe. The solution was designed using Metajourn’s Howitwrx™ process – a part art, part science methodology that translates complex concepts and processes into a language that is easy for participants to understand.
“Today, more than ever before, successful Account Management requires a deep understanding of our customers’ decision-making processes. This is especially important as new specialty drugs are approved and obtaining payer coverage with acceptable utilization management criteria becomes even more critical.
Our goal was to design a simulation that would enable Amgen Account Managers to work through various patient-centered scenarios to better understand the levers that are in play as drugs are bought and paid for. Through practical application, learners discover how product and dollars flow through the system and who bears the risk.
The most challenging part of building this course was taking the INCREDIBLY complex and making it simple – or at least understandable – for our target audiences. Doing so was no easy task, as simply understanding the landscape posed a significant challenge. There are many parts of healthcare, and there are many experts who have deep knowledge about their disciplines. However, to develop the “right” content, we knew that we had to understand healthcare from the broadest perspective and then add the appropriate level of detail to ensure accuracy, relevancy, and clarity for our learners. We also knew that to resonate with our audiences, the program needed to be patient-centric and allow hands-on application with a high degree of participant interaction,” said Nancy Latham, Senior Manager, Global Learning & Performance.
Amgen qualified under the Innovation category for practitioners, which recognizes learning leaders who have collaborated effectively with internal and external groups and individuals to marshal resources and apply innovative practices, processes or technologies in a new and groundbreaking way to address a significant business or organizational opportunity in the past year. Amgen joins Bayer, B Braun, Genentech and Janssen in the finals.
